I am ordering parts for a new "Christmas Build" computer. The motherboard is an ABIT IC7 G max II which has a front panel audio header on board. I have ordered an Inwin CR-1530 10 in 1 front panel card reader, audio etc. unit -- primarily to read compact flash cards and memory sticks from my digital cameras. I use Turtlebeach Santa Cruz sound cards in all of my computers -- having given up on Creative sound cards completely. The Santa Cruz has no provision for front panel audio connections. I would like to have the front panel connections active for audio instant messaging, but I can't connect to the Santa Cruz and I definitely want to use the Santa Cruz for ordinary sound applications. Does anyone know what would happen if I did not disable the sound on the motherboard and connected the Inwin sound input to the onboard front panel header? Speakers etc. would be connected to the Santa Cruz.

To make matters more complicated I am also installing an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 to permit me to do the A/D to transfer from vinyl LPs to CDs.
