Question about football ticket refunds

Ok, last month I was able to order student tickets for this year's football season(I did so with my visa check card). I thought that was odd since I wasn't even registering for classes this semester. When I went to pick them up I was told I could not have them because I hadn't paid my tuition and students fees. Oh well, I figured they'd issue a refund after the last pickup day. Well the last day comes and goes so I give it a week and then I call to ask about my refund. I'm then told that they will not issue refunds after the first game which was 2 days after the last pickup day. Now my question is can they legally just keep my money? I paid $95 for those tickets. I was allowed to purchase them, not allowed to pick them up, and now I'm not allowed to have my money back. It just doesn't seem right. I want to dispute the charges but I thought I'd ask first.

Cliffs:

Allowed ot order student tickets w/o being registered for classes.
Went to get tickets but told I couldn't have them.
Waited for refund, didn't receive one so called and asked for it, refund denied.
Out $95 and pissed off.

That doesn't seem legal. I would complain until someone listened to me. Work your way up the hierarchy if needed.

Agreed. You bitch enough, and someone will eventually listen.

I've been in contact with the assistant director twice and both times I got a "too bad, so sad" response.

You paid CC, do a charge back. Let Visa deal with it.

Forgot about that. This is exactly what you should do.

Yup, just call your bank...I think they would classify it as "Merchandise not received" and do a purchase adjustment.

I just did one myself, took all of 5 minutes.

Why did you order student tickets if you're not a student there now?
When you went to pick them up, did they give you the option of paying the non-student price for the tickets? Do you have that option now?

He didn't pay with a CC, he paid with a check card. Does it work the same?

I am a student, have been for a while now, I'm just taking 1 semester off, and it just happened to be the one during football season. When I went to pick them up they said my student fees(~$400) had not been paid and that I was not eligible to receive them. I was never given the option to pay more. They didn't say anything about not getting a refund and I forgot to ask. The only option they are giving me now is to bend over and take it in the @$$.

It's a platinum Bank of America Visa Check card, I assume it has the same protection as a regular credit card.
