Question about flying.

I know you can no longer bring liquids from the outside larger than 3oz and fits in a 1qt ziplock bag.
But, can you bring in empty 1.5 liter water bottles and fill them at the water fountain in the airport? Or will they not allow even the empty bottles?
Thanks.

no you cant. they will check before you get on the plane, and if they see you lugging a waterbottle the will make you dump it.

they changed the rule so that items bought past the first layer of security can be brought in, i thought. so that water bought next to the gate is ok.

bought yes, but filling your own 1.5 liter bottle is against the rules. (going to have to check the TSA site on this one)

So how exactly did they arrive at the 3oz limit? How many 3oz bottles is someone allowed to bring? How dangerous would 3oz of some nerve toxin be, maybe something like sarin?

They let me bring an empty water bottle thru security..and then I filled it --nobody checked me before I got on the plane
