Quick summary: Full time student, full time work. Aspiring soccer player. The other day I let my boss know I would have to revise my availability. I could no longer work on Sundays. (The reason I told him, knowing that he's a dick is that I have to ref soccer games on Sundays, which I did last year and the previous store director knew and agreed to). Now when I tell him I need Sundays off he says I can't have it, and I may have to work some (aka every other Sunday). I stood my ground (finally) and told him I couldnt. He basically threatened my job, before saying he'll see what he can do.
Now I really want Sundays off for a couple reasons. 1. I have a g/f and I want to see her 🙂 2. I need time to do some of my school work, and 3. I need a fricken day off. Now some of you may say to stop being lazy yatta yatta, but I don't give a sh~t about that. I don't want to work Sundays, and thats my choice.
Now my question is: Is it legal for him to fire me for asking off, and possibly refusing to work on Sundays? And would it still be legal had I said that I can't work Sundays for religious reasons?
The reason I ask the latter is because you can't discriminate based on sex, race, religion, creed yatta yatta. Not sure if that would apply here or not?
