So back a month ago someone started ordering crap on my amazon account using my stored AMEX. I got the emails on my blackberry and called amazon immediately and canceled my account completely as well as the pending order for video games and gift cards.

Since then I havent bought much online. Not b.c I'm scared to but mostly b.c funds are tight. So today I was pricing a Garmin Forerunner 305 and was going to order from amazon or ecost. When I went to amazon I forgot I closed my account but went to login anyway. When I got to the login page, the email address that was already in place was the email address that the "scumbag" used in changing my email address on the account.

I guess I am wrong in thinking that the email would only be stored if it were typed in on my laptop directly? Or is it stored by amazon? I feel like for the address to be there someone had to use it on my laptop.......but now im doubting myself.

I didnt do anything yet b/c I'm trying to figure out if someone was in my apartment on that day fixing something from the co-op management company. Not that I think someone would be that stupid to use my computer but I've seen even dumber.

Something doesn't compute. Scumbag changed the email address on your account, yet you got the messages that orders were placed??

DrPizza made a good point, how did you get the notifications?

And also, form values are stored client-side. That e-mail address was put in using that computer.

Check your saved form information.

Amazon.com sends your e-mail address as part of the HTML on the login page. They must use a cookie to identify your account, then they send the e-mail address associated with that account.

i checked my emails b/c i was confused at what i wrote too. The idiot placed an order for a $100 gift card, which I got the email for. Then i got an email that my email address had been changed.

Then when I called, thats when I got the history of what i "ordered".

so right now if i go to my account on the right hand side in the email box is the changed email. i know for a fact i didnt try to login with it on my PC, so the only way for that to happen is b/c someone did it on the computer i am using now?
