Question About Firefox 2

After a long time of using Firefox 1.5, it "forced" me to switch to Firefox 2 due to security risks.

Anyways, after some modifications, I have it almost to the way it was before, but those damned Close buttons on the Tabs are really getting in the way. I am used to moving to the left or right and clicking for a new Tab, or using Ctrl + 1-9. However, if I click, I have to make sure I don't accidentally close it which gets annoying after a while.

Now, I know that there is a "Recently Closed Tabs" option, but if you had information on that Tab (Ex. Forum Post, E-mail, or any type of form), it will be lost to which you have to re-type everything over again.

So, if there is an option somewhere, or Extension, that allows me to disable that Close button, please let me know. I have already had to fill out my FAFSA twice and several e-mails were lost.

Yes, you can easily customize the display and location of the close tab buttons in the Firefox 2 tab bar.

In the Firefox url window paste: about:config

and in the Filter window that will open paste: browser.tabs.closeButtons

Values you can give it are:

0 Display a close button on the active tab only

1 (Default) Display close buttons on all tabs

2 Don't display any close buttons

3 Display a single close button at the end of only the last open tab (Firefox 1.x behavior)
