question about fines

I have a friend who recently got caught by the aspca for trapping a skunk that kept gnawing at her garden. The officer said there'd probably be a fine. She wanted to know around how much it'd be. Does anyone here have any ideas?

woodie: you wouldn't happen to know the url for a listing of average fines by city or state would you? or even if such a site exists?

notfred: That's what I'm thinking, but sometimes, people take animal rights a little too far. Now if I was god..well, that's another thread altogether.

It does vary from state to state. I hope your friend isn't in one of those freak states that equate all animals equally.

If the skunk was a pest, she could have probably gotten a permit (varies from state to state). Argue that her only mistake was that she didn't get one and that she would have been granted one if your state allows this.

Maybe if your friend keeps her cool, she could argue the fine down small. Don't let her freak out and threaten to make a big stink (no pun intended) about a fine until it's certain that they are gonna screw her with something outrageous.

Good luck.
