Question about FCBGA1023 socket mobos

I was looking to build a home media server that has decent performance, but low powers. I saw that some of Intel's new ivy bridge processors run at a TDP of 17W, and would appear to work well for me. Looking at the spec sheet, these processors all appear to use the FCBGA1023 socket. The problem, is I can't really seem to find any motherboards that support this socket. Looking at Newegg or Amazon, I can't find anything. Am I missing something here?

FCBGA is not a socket, those are soldered-on chips. (The "bga" stands for Ball Grid Array, which is used for soldering on chips.)

PGA (Pin Grid Array) and LGA (Land Grid Array) are both types that are used with sockets.

This is an example, and yes the processor is embedded, or Soldered, Like VirtualLarry says, onto the motherboard. You will find them in the Mini-ITX form factor motherboard styles.

So Anand writes an article and didnt bother to mention how these new processors were going to be delivered. They are probably targeted for embedded and retail products.

There's one notable exception that may or may not be of interest, the Xeon E3-1220L v2 which uses the familiar FCLGA1155 socket, for which you can choose from a number of boards.

The problem, is I can't really seem to find any motherboards that support this socket.

Supermicro has like half a dozen motherboards with such a processor installed, to be seen here.

These are mini-ITX boards with exactly one PCIe slot, and they take ECC SODIMM. I find these things expensive, and a bit restricting due to their limitation to 16 GB RAM and only one single expansion slot, but maybe that doesn't bother you.

If you want a low power mainboard, Gigabyte, MSI and Biostar have a couple available:

They are only Celeron based and do not support ECC, but they should be adequate for a basic non-transcoding home server...

An alternative would be a Brazos (AMD E-series), but you'll sacrifice a good bit of CPU performance.

That MSI motherboard is a 1.1Ghz Celeron with no HDMI? Isnt the ATOM processor faster than that?

Here is a new board from Gigabyte with a 1.5Gig Processor and HDMI. I would want to see some benchmarks and tests before I purchased it.
