I got faycry not to long ago and just now got around to playing it and im getting vary frushtrated with the lighting effects and such, Its like on all defults with video settings medium it looks allmost like evrything is glowing... mess with it some more and everythings to dark, then to light... this last time i put lighting effects on low everything els was on med and everything looked compleetly diffrent... wtf is up with this game.. My monitor settings and settings in nView are good and fairly corrent acording to mutible tests and such.

So im just wondering what people that have this game use as far as video settings/brightness/contrast/grama go.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, its late and im tired...

Settings make sense only in context of your system configuration, but unfortunately you didn't say what your video card, OS, mobo, cpu, display are.

Here's what works well on a WIndows XP SP2 desktop computer on mine, with ATI X800 XL video card, with a DVI conncetion to a Dell LCD monitor:

Video Options:

Renderer: Direct 3D9
Resolution: 1024 X 768 X 32
Anti Aliasing: None
Brightness: slider in center position
Contrast: slider in center position
Gamma correction: slider to left of center, set at about 1/3 the total width of the slider bar
Full screen: yes, checked
Vertical synch: yes, checked
Play background video: yes, checked
Render mode: Paradise

Advanced Video Options:

Testure quality: Very high
Texture filter quality: Trilinear
Anisotropic Filtering level: 2
Particle count: Very high
Special effects quality: Very high
Environment quality: Very high
Shadow quality: Very high
Water quality: Very high
Lighting quality: Very high

Typing the above was a PITA, you owe me one dude.
Have fun playing that FarCry!

edited to fix typos

It just dosent look right to me, Maybe its just how i have my screen settings in nView or whatever, If I set my monitor settings to defult in nView and play the game with its defults the game dosent have the "glowing" efect on the walls and such and darker stuff i.e. the door in that picture look better and i can see them but everything alltogether looks allmost faded and washed out, Just can figure it out.. Maybe its just me?

Anyway thanks for the help.

Now heres with lighting effects and spechal effects on low special http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/7092/farcry00018zt.jpg

Now like this i can see the door and such and everything isent like "glowing" and i can ajust to monitor to ware its dosent look so faded as it dose (for me atleast) with out beeing overly dark or not beeing able to see some stuff, It would seam like it should be like this but its with some settings on low... Just dosent really make cence, Maybe they just whent over board with the lighting effects?

That screen shot is W A Y wrong.

Your setup ought to easily run the game properly.

Maybe you could try an experiment : set all your Video Options and Advanced Video Options like mine above.

The displayed view seems especially sensitive to the Gamma correction slider, so see if tweaking that helps.

If that doesn't fix it, then sorry, I don't know how else to help you. Maybe someone else on AT can lend more advice.

Request: When you do solve it, please come back here & post the fix to help the next guy.

Edit: Like shimsham said, you ought to install patches up to version 1.33, from here. As I recall, you skip one of the patches because the next higher rev patch is cumulative, I think you want 1.31 and 1.33, skipping 1.32, you'll need to verify that.
