so back in may, my wife applied for FAFSA for tution grants/aid for this school. She never got any sort of reply on the process. Luckily, she got a scholarship, but since it dosn't pay 100%, she had to pay some out of her own pocket.

The last note on the FAFSA webpage is this:

processed date: 05/26/2006
EFC :01356
Transaction source: Paper Correction

The original form was sent on 05/11/06, and 05/26/06 was the last transaction.

Why were there not any activities? Even if they denied her any aid, wouldn't they at least note that somwhere?

and btw, what does our EFC mean?

and also, when is a good time to start applying for the fall of 2007? is now too early?

Nope, if you want aid for fall of 07, go to http://pin.ed.gov/ PRONTO and apply for your PIN now so it can all be ready around January. AFAIK, they give you some kind of ridiculously short window to get it all done.

EFC = estimated family contribution

it means how much others (presumably you) can help with the cost...in this case it predicts that you can help $1,356 which is odd because they usually put it like EFC: 1356

Go striaght to the Fin. Aid office of the college she's attending. Ask them to talk to someone about this year's aid package (or why you got no info back). In addition get their application packet for next year. Some places require you to jump through a few more hoops than others.
