question about ezpass in ny

currently my father is the account holder of an ezpass account for 2 cars under his name. is there anything wrong with putting my car, thats under my name, under his account? i know ezpass accounts are allowed up to 4 vehicles, but just wanted to be sure if the ez pass account car limits are going by the car title holder, or purely just whatever plate numbers you put in there. a link to hard evidence of which is readily needed as well. fyi, ezpass site sucks with info, and doesn't tell jack about this circumstance. thanks.

for what it's worth, I believe you can get your EZPass through PA instead of NY. Works the same. Difference is (at least the last time I was looking at it) is that NY charges an annual fee or something like that; PA doesn't. (NY is higher; NY & NJ whine that they're losing money because of EZPass. )

edit: I'm looking into it. I see that NY and NJ charge a $1.00 monthly account fee. PA is $3 annually. And, it seems to imply that you can get multiple transponders per account (although it's $3 per account annually.)

I've been meaning to get an EZPass, and if I do, I'll go with wherever it's cheapest annually. I very seldom go through tolls in NY (where I live); it's usually when I'm out of state.

After New Jersey began losing money with the E-ZPass system, a monthly account fee of $1.00 was implemented on July 15, 2002[2] and is still in effect. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey also charges a monthly account fee of $1.00. The Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority imposed a monthly account fee starting on July 1, 2005 claiming to defray the administrative costs.[3] However, as such a fee was considered to threaten the efficiency of moving traffic faster with lower tolls, New York State Republican Senator Michael Balboni sponsored Bill S06331 to prohibit administrative service fees on E-ZPass accounts. I bolded the important part for you Even with 3 cars, that's only $36 a year, but when you think about it, they should be reducing your tolls for using an EZPass. In chicago they charge half rates on I-Pass tolls vs regular cash.

yup, stupid fees.

i got mine thru delaware. no fees. i goto nyc often. no problem. hm.. now that i'm looking at my statement, no discount either.

when i had a ny ezpass acct, i got $1 discount on ny/nj bridges?!?!?!

did they get rid of that? or is it because it's a DE acct?
