Question about exchanging Dell laptops

I bought a D600 and it had dead pixels, so I exchanged it with Dell. Well, while I was waiting for it to get here, I setup the one I had the way I wanted it.

My question is, if I just swap the hard drives between the two, will Dell care? Everything about them is the same, I've just configured one and would prefer not having to do so again, though I obviously will if I have to.

Any help would be appreciated.

i dunno, everything has serial numbers. . . . try asking a dell rep.

ALSO, all is not lost if they say 'no' . . . you can simply clone your set-up HD to your new one. 😉

If it's running xp, just use the files and settings transfer wizard.
EDIT: This won't transfer your programs, though. You could always image the HD.

They do keep track of what components are in what laptops, but I don't know if they care. I'd just call and ask.

Or just get a copy of ghost and when you get the new one, ghost it from the old one. Should accomplish the same thing.
