Question about enabling AHCI

I am about to reinstall Windows 7 and I figured I would enable ACHI mode in the bios while I am at it.

I just want to make sure of a few things. I have 2 hard drives, 1 for my OS and the other for storage. Will enabling AHCI cause me to lose all the data on the storage drive?

And do I need to know anything else? I have read that you need to load a special driver for AHCI mode, is this true? Will installing Windows be the same as it was before? Just put the disc in and follow directions?

You won't lose the data on your storage drive if you enable AHCI.

Windows 7 already has generic AHCI drivers built in. So you don't need to do anything special when you install it using the SATA ports in AHCI mode.

Windows XP does not have AHCI drivers built it. So you would need AHCI drivers if you were installing XP.
