eh, just lie. you only need to score high enough of survey so that they put you in the top 3. then i think they might interview you, but i'm not sure

FYI, when I was hired by the feds they required an official transcript. I don't think that lying is a very good idea.

Yep. In fact, our wonderful HR department is so great that they made me submit my transcript 3 times because they kept losing it :)

well would you happen to have any idea how job requirements are drafted? is it a case by job by job basis or is this 21 credits thing to be expected throughout this level?

it might be throughout this level. You might be able to qualify under a lower grade. There was a similiar requirement for computer science, however that allowed a combo of math and cs.

Well from what little I understand about the hiring procedures, there are different levels you have to get past. The first one is where everyones applications are weeded out for people who don't qualify. If you don't have the 21 credits, most likely you'll be weeded out at this point.

this isn't really helpful to the OP as he doesn't work for the government yet. And he needs this class to qualify at that grade level.

I work for the government. Get the 3 extra credits. Go to night school if needed. Otherwise you have almost no chance.

Each GS level has a certain level of education pegged to it (with equalizers for professional experience and Military service.) The actual job requirements are written by individual HR departments after interviewing the manager asking for a hire, and candidates are indeed weeded out at the first step by those minimum (and mandatory) requirements.

If you really want this job then take the extra three hours, I don't think that 21 Econ hours is some sort of generic acid test for GS-7 though so it might not apply to (m)any other positions.

Why not call the HR office of the hiring agency and ask if this is a mandatory spec (probably is) then explain your situation.
