i just sold a laptop over ebay, and the lady that won it says she's local and wants to pick it up instead. I rather ship it off because i rather not waste my time waiting for her and finding a place to meet up at. I also dont like that fact she sent payment of 487.62, excluding the shipping price without telling me beforehand and without permission. what do you think?

Right off the bat, she sounds really pushy and that would scare me. (paranoia mode on) Fast forward a couple of weeks: She could then claim you never shipped and considering you don't have any proof of shipping ("I never picked it up.. the seller is lying!"), the payment service would probably take her side. (paranoia mode off)

But if you're going to let her do a pickup, get pictures, a signature, receipt of acceptance, etc. to cover yourself. My $0.02.

edit: ever think of one thing but type another? me too...

Did she use Paypal or credit card for payment? She might want to pick up to avoid you discovering she doesn't actually live @ the verified paypal/credit card billing address... be wary.

exactly, services like paypal require proof of shipment in case of a chargeback later on.

Just tell her she's SOL, and until she sends money for shipping, she's not gonna get it. I had a similar situation happen to me once where a guy that lived about an hour away wanted me to just drop it off instead of shipping. Since it was an item I bought at a thrift shop for $25 and sold for 10x that, I went ahead and did it, but otherwise I would not have wasted my time. Plus, he had a 100K home theatre system and I got the money in cash! :D

She has to follow the terms laid out by you unless agreed upon otherwise - you can ask her for S&H charges because it was never agreed upon that you'd deliver it locally. If she refuses, refund her money and report her to eBay as a deadbeat bidder

If you do that, deduct money for listing fees. However, I'd just keep the money until she pays additional for shipping.
