there is this cable set top box i am looking at and it has dvi output
proj tv has vga in

couldnt i just use a video card DVI>VGA adapter and maintain the HD signal 1080i max

(im guessing yes...)

so it wouldnt work?? hmm this is from the cable box

why isnt it as easy as using an adapter?
so all digital cables are now hdcp i will go research more about hdcp

i am thinking this cable box doesnt make use of hdcp i think it is before the time of hdcp which should mean my display should be hdcp which it is not so in theory it should work

btw hmm took me a while to find the dumbass who made this hassle er i mean technology

INTEL.....

Let's work on not using runons before starting a flamewar against Intel.

I garuntee you it has HDCP, and it is NOT a DVI-I port, just DVI-D, so it only carries digital video.

Hmm, seems your spelling also needs work...

but anyway it IS more of a hassle having to buy new hardware and such

then how do the vid cards get away with it?? im guessing it is dvi-i which also carries analog

but how do they not get messed with by the INTEL copyright protection squad
nvm i think i answered my question GRR

so in no way will this work

im guessing i will have to use component GRR
