Question about DVD-RW drives

you'd have to convert them to .mpg

But they'll be like regular DVD disks, playable on standalone dvd players? The reason I'm asking - I got a bunch of ducktales movies that I'd like to burn to dvds.

yes but you will have to convert them. most burning programs that burn dvd movies will do it for you

roxio 6 does it for me. it came with my plextor 708a

I just got one at NewEgg that can record both for $115.

Edit:
+- just means you can record in either DVD-R or DVD+R. You can try burning both types and see if they both play in your dvd player.

it really depends on your player. there are some sites out there that list what players can read what kind of disks. I have DVD+R and both of my Sony DVD players read them fine but my one RCA has trouble reading most of the movies i burn.

Cool looks like my Sony players will support DVD+R format, but I'll get the drive that supports both formats just to be on the safe side.

I bought a TDK Indi 440N multi-format burner. It works great, but the Roxio EZ CD/DVD 6 sucks.

I use TMPGenc to encode and TDA (TMPG Author) to burn.

Soon I will get Adobe Premier to edit before burning.
