Question about DVD burners

Can they burn CDs as well? or would I need a CD Burner seperatly?

yes they can, at 10x - 16x depending on the model. They also burn CD-RWs.

dvd burners are getting so cheap now that i dont have a need for all my cd burners

FYI: the Sony DRU-510A does CD-R at 24x and CD-RW at 16x

If you can get 2 optical drives, it's better to have a dvd burner, (I Like the Sony DRU 510A) and a good CDRW/DVD combo drive. That way you can burn disk to disk.

Another good thing about that Sony model is that it writes on both DVD formats (DVD+ and DVD-). Very flexible.

Sony DW-U10A Can be flashed to DRU-500A specs and write DVD+R media at 4x instead of 2.4x
its cheaper then buying the retail DRU500A model.
