I recently received a HP DVD Writer dvd3001 as a present. I barely know anything about dvd burners. I have a question and was hoping someone knowledgable can help me out.

- If I were to rent a DVD movie from a video store am I able to make a copy of the DVD (including menus, deleted scenes, etc)

Also, if anyone who has a DVD Burner, what other things are you able to do with it, and which is the best program to use with it.

Thanks in advance

Yes, but you need special software.
Check Hardware and search. Its in there, cant remember what its called though

I'm not sure, but a better question to ask is, "If I buy a DVD and I'm afraid it'll get lost or scratched, am I able to make a BACKUP copy of it using this DVD recorder?"

There are some solid threads about this in Software too. Eug is the DVD writer expert over in general hardware I believe...check for his posts on the subject.

4x write is the fastest right at the moment. 4x media is very expensive so I only write at 1x or 2x since media for that speed is half the price of 4x media.
