I got one years ago, but I never really used it. I tried it again last night. Should this pedal have a spring in it that make it recoil back to it's original position?

No. You have a button switch on the toe end to turn it on---just pretty hard forward with your foot, then again to turn it off. There are no springs on the pedal.

That sucks. It is gonna take a lot of practice then to use this thing.

I'm with you on that. I have a boss expression pedal that is the same way, and I don't like it. I'd rather have the spring so you can feel the pressure against your foot. To me that would be easier to use.

I miss my Dunlop Crybaby. I had no problem with it being non-springy. I think it gave me greater control over the amount of effect I needed while playing.

I don't know anything about Dunlop Crybabys.

It's a guitar effects pedal. At large, they're known as Wah-Wah pedals because of their signature sound so Dunlop's particular brand is called Crybaby.

Look into something like the Bad Horsie, might be what you're after. It basically is only on when your foot is on it. Otherwise, like Fritzo said, you'll need to click it on/off.

It doesn't suck- many guitarists, myself included, use the wah as a tone control. You can't do that with a spring pedal.

Yea, the Dunlop is the standard in wah AFAIC. Aside from wah, I could make my single coils sound very close to a humbucker with the right position. Having 100% manual control gives you infinite control.

I noticed. I put in and used it with a RAT pedal and just left it full bore. Sounded good with a Telecaster.

You can customize the wah range also. Open the bottom, and flip the geared bar out of the way, then you can change the pot position. Do a little bit at a time so can keep track of how much you moved it, and can put it back if desired.
