If I live in the US, and want to go to Europe and work there for the summer, how would I go about obtaining a European Union passport? Would I be able to get one if I don't live there?

EDIT: also, how long does the process take for obtaining an EU passport?

If you're going to the country of your 2nd citizenship, then all you need to do is show them your passport (of that country).

Apply for residence for that country.

Do you know how long it usually takes for the process to complete? Also, am I guaranteed a passport for that country, or could they turn me down?

My friend, you obviously havn't spend half as much time as I did in europe.
Trust me, there's nothing to look for there (in terms of living, though its nice for turism).

And you my friend have not spent even 1/100 of the time I did (Born and raised there).

It will take years to get a citizenship just the same way it will take years for us Europeans to get a green-card or citizenship in the US.

The cool thing with EU is that I can work in any of those countries whenever I want with no paper work.
