QUESTION ABOUT DSL

First of all, we have 2 phone lines here at our house. One is a computer line and the other a regular line to talk on. I'm wanting to get DSL installed on my computer and was wondering what all I should do if my father wants to continue using dial up. If my father decides to also have DSL installed on his computer what can be done to enable both of us to be online at the same time?

droberii;

DSL does not affect phone access in any way. If you have two phone lines now and you didn't cancel one, you will have two phone lines after the dsl install.
DSL is either installed on a separate pair of copper that does not have dial tone or a phone number or with a splitter, so the lowest frequencies are reserved for voice and above that dsl rides the same line.

No action will be required if your father wants to continue to dial up.

There is an excellent FAQ on this board that covers how to share an internet connection.
Read it, and if you have questions, there are a lot of people on the board willing to help.

After your father sees broadband speeds, the modem is history. 🙂 Trust me.
