currently using agent 1.91 to download some binary files from newsgroups and have a few questions? What are the par files for and does agent support yenc encoding?

I believe 1.91 supports yEnc. PAR files can be used with incomplete RAR sets to repair corrupted RAR files. You need SmartPAR or similar program to use the PAR files.

thx all,
now just to make sure I'm doing all this right. I am currently dl one big file that is split up as follows: 43 smaller files and then each file itself is split into 50 pieces. This all shows up as about 2000 messages in agent and looks something like this

file description File 1 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part1.rar" 20000000 bytes [1/50]
file description File 1 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part1.rar" 20000000 bytes [2/50]
file description File 1 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part1.rar" 20000000 bytes [3/50]
...
file description File 1 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part1.rar" 20000000 bytes [50/50]
file description File 2 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part2.rar" 20000000 bytes [1/50]
file description File 2 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part2.rar" 20000000 bytes [2/50]
file description File 2 of 43 - yEnc "filename.part2.rar" 20000000 bytes [3/50]
...

The problem is when I am tyring to save them each piece of a file (50 of them) has the same file name. Now should i just save them as different filenames or try joining the 50 pieces together first before saving them. Actually i already went ahead and joined the 50 pieces of each file together. But in case this is wrong is there a way to reverse it.

also when saving some attachement i get an error saying that there is a decoding/encoding error and then it ask me to save it and leave it in the file or save it and remove it from the file. What should i do?

hahahaahaha......well either of the following two things could be happening to u

1. Could be filez:))) spilt into multiple parts.

2. there is an automated bot that is running around in most of the illegal activity binaries like .......

it detects game isoz and posts multiple copies of dummy filez for each of the posted 15MB rar filez or so and so for music mp3s...( I'm not sure abt this but i heard abt this from a friend so this is not official nor is it confirmed nor has it been verified.

the only way to work around it is to download all of em and check which is the right one with the included par files. or instead of going through all this trouble go to ur nearest store and buy the software that you want...;)

TO remove the large data files click on file then compact database.
