Question about django, how do you go live with it?

I've worked through some of the tutorials and although I don't completely understand how develop with it yet I don't see how it works with a regular web host. The host I use lists python available but the program tutorial uses a python run test server?

I just want a little reassurance that I won't have to move people to a special web host if i want to develop something for them with it before I spend much more time on it.

I wouldn't try unless I was on a VPS or dedicated server, that way I'd have complete access and could do anything I wanted.
