Anyone know how if its possible to get a resellers license and sell stuff online? I am interested in becomming a reseller but I only have a few thousand to spend. If anyone has experience with this topic please let me know. How do I get a license and will distributors even deal with small timers like me? Im mainly looking into reselling pro audio equipment and computer parts.

i'm not sure about the audio world, but i think you only need a sales and use license from your state, which basically says you will report your sales and charge/pay sales tax. Most vendors should happily deal with you once they have a copy of your license (or a license number).

Not getting decent pricing from them for a small time guy is another story altogether... (Goodluck...)

Go to the courthouse and basically tell them just what you told us

You need to register as a business (and thus pay taxes as a business if you want to be legit)

It doesnt cost much...a few bucks for the forms etc. And it only takes about 15 minutes of your day.

You'll need a name ...i.e Johns Computers or Bobs Hardware...or whatever you want.
