Question about disabling automatically detect settings

I have a comcast cable modem, and every time I try to disable the Automatically Detect Settings in the Connections -> Lan Settings option, it always REadds it. The reason why I'm doing this is because it takes about a minute for my IE to get to my home page, because of the detecting proxy settings status.

Can anyone help?

In LAN settings, all boxes should be clear, even the gray out one, check on the "use a proxy..." so you can clear it, and uncheck the "use a proxy...". Make sure you click on Apply before closing it out, and restart, it should work.

Still didn't work. Everything is greyed out. The apply button is even grayed out, even after I edit and remove, and gray everything. Right after I hit OK(since apply is grayed), I restart.

What am I doing wrong?
