Question about digital cameras

I just ordered a 8.1 megapixel camera and was wondering how much big each image will be file size wise at the max resolution (3264 x 2448)

I'm trying to figure out how big of a memory card to get 😱

My 6MP camera will hold somewhere around 320 on a 1GB card, so figure something in the area of 200 shots at 8MP on a 1GB card... That would be my ballpark guess. One of the guys I work with has the Rebel XT.. It's 8MP and I think it gets around 225 or so on a 1GB, so something in that range.

At a guess it will always be set to either 24 or 32 bits. Do the math on 32bit and you'll be fine.

Yeah, that thought occurred to me after I hit post... I realized I rambled a little bit and the 1st half was probably pretty useless. Oh well, what can ya do?

yeah, go get a 1gb card. better yet, get 2 1gb cards -- just in case.
