you need the drivers for the camera, but other than that, any photo upload program would work

cameras are not really "plug and play" so to speak, but it can be done with little effort

Buy a card reader. It plugs in via USB and shows up as a drive. No software needed to extract images.

Probably be easiest just to install drivers, unless you're doing it on a lot of different computers..

Install the drivers, and winxp will automatically detect the camera and will ask you for an upload.

You can even customize it so that it will automatically upload it for you if you plug it in.

There are some cameras that are plug and play. You could try it out if you didn't want to install drivers, but you'll probably have to.

If you're using Windows XP you do not need to install extra software, just do this.

We do it all the time with our Kodak, Fuji and Canon digicams, works like a charm.

Here's a tip for you, make sure the digicam is turned OFF plug the USB cable into the computer and into the digicam then turn the camera power ON.

if your running WinXP as your OS, you probably won't need any drivers or anything.

Yeah, that works on most cameras, but recently I got a Canon 230 and had to install the drivers. I guess since it came out after XP did, maybe that's why I needed to use the drivers.

Exactly.

Works great on my wife's XP Home desktop, my XP Pro desktop and our XP Home laptop.
