if subscribe to digital cable service from my local cable company and they give me one digital cable tv box, can i purchase another similar model from ebay to use on my other tv in my room? is this considerred legal since i'm still subscribing to their service?
 
i dont think you can (but im not sure).... i think the cable company needs to "activate" each receiver.

But really most cable companies are real aggressive with pricing their boxes to rent and are cheaper than buying. What does your cable company want for a second box? Not to mention any tv will be able to tune the "non digital" stuff through the integrated tuner.
