Question about DELL RAM

Im possibly getting a Dell4500 system, but with no RAM or HDD. Someone told me that not all DDR 2100 Ram will work in this machine. DOes anyone know if Dells will only take certain memory? It seemed odd to me, but thought I would ask on AT. Thanks 🙂

Any PC2100 should work, but some RAM/mobo combinations are just finicky. Usually it happens when you're dealing with subpar, generic RAM. If you want to be sure, you can go through Crucial's Memory selector to find RAM that is guaranteed to work to with the system.

in theory any ram will work, but i'd stay away from k-byte and centron, you have no idea what you're getting with them.

heck, when i was ordering my notebook i ordered it with the minimum you could get, and then bought more ram from dell S&P in the same order because it was about $15 cheaper than crucial.
