Question about Dell laptops and Ebay

I couldn't really find any place this post fit in. So, if this is not the correct place, then feel free to move it or delete it.

I'm looking over Ebay and there are a lot of current model and prior current model Dell laptops. These are all Brand new, sealed and not refurbs. These things are selling for hundreds less (sometimes like $500 less) than what they would if purchased from Dell. All of these sellers have like 99-100% feedback.

How are these people getting these laptops that they can sell them that cheap? Because they have to be making money on them.

Make sure they are willing to transfer the warranty before you buy, if you are going to.

They probably purchased them with coupon codes when Dell had an end-of-fiscal-quarter sale.

Also, they make have upgraded them using after-market parts. This is especially true with memory. Dell charges an arm and a leg (usually) for upgrades.

Dell outlet has some good deals when they put up new inventory. Most laptops can be had for hundreds less and are a favorite place for ebayers/resellers to get the laptops.

Lots of people sell refurbed or remanufactured laptops as new on eBay.... warranty will either be very short if none at all.

the 1501 i found was from a guy who bought two when he had coupon codes. he planned on selling one for profit but he wasnt going to make the hundreds that he thought so he just accepted my low bid offer for $600. its pretty much a loaded machine, im very satisfied with the deal. full one year warranty and clean service tag.

however, it seems to me the quality of ebay is crashing by the month. be very careful, ebay is not the sure-fire cheapest way to get stuff anymore. i would much rather trust a refurb straight from dell unless its a case like mine where it was obvious the guy was truthful about the condition of the laptop
