System Specs:

AMD Athlon XP1800+ w/ stock HSF (not OCed)
Gigabyte GA-7VRXP Mobo
256Mb OCZ PC-3000 DDR366 Ram
Gainward GF3 Ti200 (barely OCed)
IBM 60GXP 20.Gb
Antec 400W PSU

Windows XP Pro
Cable Internet 1.7Mb Dwn/ 128k Up

Will Upping my DDR modules voltage from stock 2.5volts to say 2.7 or 2.8 be dangerous or will it help my OCZ PC-3000 DDR366 ram achive 333mhz ? As of now my Gigabyte board seems to not like the ram being set to 333mhz so I have had to set it at 266mhz. Any suggestions?

When you say, "As of now my Gigabyte board seems to not like the ram being set to 333mhz..." are you stating that your system is crashing? If so, what errors are you getting? Upping the Vdimm is the normal procedure when overclocking RAM, but your memory should be at spec (2.5v) while running at 333Mhz. If you suspect the motherboard is not supplying enough voltage to the DIMM I would up it to 2.6 or 2.7v. The PSU could equally be the cause, but that Antec 400 would have to be faulty IMO for that to be the case.

You shouldn't have a problem with 2.7 or 2.8 volts. Most of the OCZ Ram(not all though) use Samsung chips and they can take up to 3volts with no problems.

Well it is not exzactly hanging but sometiems when i shut off the computer and come back later and do a cold boot the system gives to beeps and I get no video i.e. nothing displays on the moniter. I have to hit the off button on the case and restart and usually the system will start up just fine and boot into windows. But when I have the memeory set at 2.5 volts and 266mhz instead of 333mhz the system never hangs. So i am thinking the system has a problem running the ram at true 333mhz speed so I thought by upping the voltage I could get the ram to behave stable under 333mhz setting. I will try upping the voltage to 2.8 from 2.5 and tell you what happens. Thank you guys. Also I have played with the other DRAM settings such as the cas latency and so forth. I am going to keep the setting at conservative levels while running the ram at 333mhz as I dont think the ram can handle ultra speed settings and be run at 333mhz and still have stability.
