Question about D2OL install...

OK, I installed D2OL on my computer and gave it my registration email address (even though I didn't have to do anything else). Now it's running in the background and something called DockWin is using up 64MB of memory and 99% of my processor power so I hope it's that. This thing is a memory hog! I hope it gives up some of that if other programs need it. Anyway, how do I tell the progress on my WUs currently running, how do I get to my stats and how to I tweak this dog! :)

EDIT: The scoring confuses me. Does it finish a bunch of WU and then send them all in or does it just send the cream of the crop?

FINAL EDIT: What's the difference between Candidates and Conformers? What do they do and what is more valuable?

Thank you!

From the FAQ at the D2OL site...

Q: I have D2OL installed and everything is working as it should. How can I check my stats?
A: While everyone who participates has stats - only Members can look up their stats or make it onto the "scoreboard". To become a member you need to visit the Member Services webpage, which can be found by clicking on the ?Teams? shortcut on the main D2OL web page. You will need to register first before you continue. This requires that you know your Node ID which is located in the upper right corner of the GUI screen. Insert the e-mail address that you used when installing the client and choose a Member Name and Password. Click on ?Create? and you will be at your member services home page. Everything you crunched before becoming a member will be waiting for you, so don't worry if you joined "late".

Q: How do I join a team?
A: Once you have completed the above steps to create your member home page you can join a team. From your member services home page follow the links in the ?Team Information? section. You can ether join an existing team or start your own.

Well I have it installed on two machines and it's working fine! Another interesting note is how it adjusts how much resources (WU difficulty?) based on how powerful the machine is.

It doesn't adjust resources (although I'm pretty sure that feature has been asked for), it's basically pot luck as to the complexity of the candidates it downloads :)

Scoring is done by the number of cadidates completed. Each candidate consists of 20 conformers. Conformers from different candidates don't neccessarily take the same amount of time and therefore the time to complete each candidate varies. I hope I've throughly confused you, but accually it isn't that hard to understand.

And results are only sent in every 6 hours by default unless you do a manual update.

That answered my question! Thank you! This is a nice client, my 3200+ spits these things out and it runs much cooler then SETI@Home. :)

See first post for new question...

I missed a thread??? No way! :)

PorBleemo: Your 3200 will scream through D2OL candidates! :)

Lemme know how many WU's you complete a day. <--- Just curious. My top machine is a 2400.

Ah! Candidates are more important! Thank you!

Please understand that my computer is also my general usage computer. However it basically sits on 24/7 running FireFox and about 45min of gaming at most.

Based on my average recorded Condidate scores reports with the official stats this thing should be crunching about 130 WUs a day. If you look at my stats look at Node #103179 as the other one is a 1700+.

Woah! :p I'm going to need you reach around the back of that machine and disconnect the keyboard and mouse! That'll fix that "usage" problem... :) Hehe. Your machine rocks.

From what I hear this additional 256Kb of cache really helps on DC clients. If you do buy a new processor get a Mobile 2500+. You can make 2.5Ghz on those no sweat with good cooling. :)

Slapstick and I go with volume (30-40 machines). Most of our machines at home are 2000's to 2500's.

BTW: What is that GIANT thing on top of your processor in that pic? 120mm fan?

It's a 1.5Lbs Swiftech MCX462-V heatsink with a 92mm Panaflo M1A. Nothing wrong with volume, in this case all of those would out run my single 3200+ easily anyhow. :p

Link to 3200+ d2OL stats.
