Question about Crossfire on the upcoming X2900 cards?

I know that several of ATI's cards are going away from the dongle and will support and internal bridge much like SLI. Will this "software" Crossfire, as it's called, require a new motherboard or would it work fine with my 975X based board?

i always wanted to ask wheather is a review that compares 8x/8x crossfire vs 16x/16x crossfire...sorry to bust in on your thread but i hope someone knows...i know for a fact that it doesnt work on 965p 4x second slot

That's not software Crossfire.

Software Crossfire would be with nothing connecting the two cards, with data being transferred solely over the PCI-E bus.

X2900 crossfire will use a bridge like with SLI.
