Question about credit cards.....

how come there's like a few days - one week delay before charges show up on the "recent activity" thing? i have a check card, and it works significantly faster....

I know that if you call the credit card company after any card purchase, they can verify the purchse that qucik...some good ones will call you to verify a large purchase on your card. A While back, dad bought a new fridge, and you know how expensive those can get. Well, the company called us to make sure that we actually made and authorized the purchase at the store.
Maybe the delayy you are talktin about has something to do with how long it takes for it to get printed on paper or from the card companies' computers to an online-style activity checker.

How long it takes to show up is entirely dependent on your bank and how good their website is. I have one card that updates charges every night with purchases I made that day. I have another card that takes 5-6 days before they show up online.

My MBNA card I can log in right away and see it but it will still say "pre-authorized" for a couple of days before going through.
