I have a credit card that I use for all of my non cash purchases. It is from my bank, and I pay it off in full every month. The only reason I use it and not my debit card is so I can build a credit history. My bank offers me credit cards with rewards all the time, so my question is can I upgrade my current card to one of those or do I have to start a new one?

Bank may or may not let you convert your existing card into a rewards card.........up to their policies.

depends. My accounts at the big banks (Citi, Chase, etc.) have usually let me convert from personal cards to personal cards, but I tried recently and they didn't let me convert from a personal card to a business-type card.

I was successful in combining the credit limits of a Citi Dividend Platinum with a Platinum Select account, but Chase didn't let me convert my Free Cash Rewards to a Chase Professional.
