What happens if you sent a check for more than the entire balance? Will the CC company send the check back or will they apply it?

I miscalculated and accidentally sent in a check for more than what I owe which would 1) pay off the entire balance and 2) give me some sort of credit since I don't actually owe that much.

Thanks!

My CC company applies a credit to my account. I can then either keep the credit or request a check.

1. do everything electronically
2. it will be applied to your account and you will have a negative balance

A negative balance (meaning they owe you money) is fine, but if it's by a large amount they may get suspicious.

It's probably by 100 or so. The most will be $200.

Same here.

Most cc's will issue you a refund check for the credit balance if you call and request it. Others have a minimum threshold of around $100 and a check is automatically sent after one full billing cycle has passed.

they keep your $ unless u ask for it back. ie: interest free loan.

ironically, if you accidently sent in a check for less than full, you'll get hit w/finance fees for the next TWO statements. even if you paid in full the following month.

I usually round up to the next $50 or so on one of my CCs because I'm lazy and know I'll charge that much the next month when I paid my cable and phone bill by CC. They just hold it as a credit, but sadly, don't give me interest. If CCs did that I'd finally get a Discover card and pay a few thousand on it. :D

I had to put extra money on my credit card to buy my gpu for my pc. I had a limit of $500, but it was ~600.
