For a company to charge you, they have to state a specific amount and you have to agree to it right?

Can they say "if we send you merchandise, you'll pay the price we set later"?

On the 'net, you just have to keep an eye on your online credit card account. Unfortunately, there's no way to actually sign a receipt acknowledging the amount of the sale, and depending on the internet company, you could conceivably get screwed bigtime, and have to dispute the charge with your credit card company. Make sure to read through their terms!

In the outside world, you always have a receipt to both acknowledge the amount of the sale, and to sign, agreeing to the "terms" of the sale.

I would never agree to a credit card sale without first arriving at the amount of the sale. -kd5-

Yeah, that's the thing I'm talking about.

But if I did agree to such terms, could they bill me $10000 and say I agreed to pay for it?

And if I didn't see a stated fixed amount, could I dispute it with my CC company?

Whenever you order something online, try to print out the order receipt if you can. Save all the
e-mails and other correspondence until you receive the item(s) and also see your credit card statement.
If you are wrongly charged, your credit card company should be able to take care of everything. There's no way you'll have to pay that wrong amount, unless your CC company is really shoddy.
