Question About CPUs and USB 3.0

Now that usb 3.0 is coming out I was wondering: Does usb 3.0 affect compatibility with CPUs?

I have an Intel Q9550S Quad chip, and would like to transfer it to a newer different board which has usb 3.0 on it.

Is this possible?

yes, as long as the new MB supports your cpu . it's the mother board that includes the usb 3.0 hardware, not the cpu.

yeah this, USB 2 is WAY TO SLOW for external drives.

Exactly what Flexcore said, above. It's the MB/chipset that supports USB 3.0; CPU's got nothing to do w/it.

I'm excited about USB 3.0! With USB as the de facto connection standard for 95% of the peripherals out there, it will be great once all those peripherals are operating at USB 3.0 speeds. I could see it replacing Firewire for audio/video applications as well. Granted, there's currently a huge amount of FW devices out there, but as they get old and break, maybe the new ones will have USB 3.0 connectivity.
