Question about CPU types and FSB settings on K7S5A

Hi, I have a K7S5A and a few CPU's that I'm trying to see if they work. One of the CPU's is an Athlon 800. The other ones (which I'm not 100% sure if they work or not) are a 1GHz TBird, a 1700+ and a 2600+. I popped in the 800Mhz Athlon and it worked fine. With the other ones I popped each one in, but couldn't get them to work. The computer starts up, and everything spins up, but nothing comes up on the screen. They were working before, but it's been a while, so I'm not sure.

I was thinking that it might be the FSB setting because I'm pretty sure the Athlon 800 is 200Mhz FSB while the other ones are 266MHz. Is it possible that could be the problem, or am I way off? Is the BIOS the only way to change the settings? What are the other likely problems that it could be? Maybe the BIOS needs updating?

The 800 & 1GHz TBird run @200 FSB (note: 1GHz Athlon-C runs @266 FSB)
The 1700+ & 2600+ run @266 FSB

Manual states Athlon 650 - 1.4GHz, 200 & 266 FSB.
Website states all are compatible.

What type RAM are you using (DDR1600, 2100, etc...)?

I see, thanks for clearing that up. I guess that means that those three might be dead. So does the board automatically change the FSB when you put in a new CPU?

I am using Kingmax PC3200 RAM.

My old K7S5A wouldn't boot originally with my 1.4Ghz TBird until I updated the BIOS. Never had a problem with it for years after that until it finally died a few weeks ago. I'd recommend sticking the Athlon 800 in there and updating to the newest BIOS, then try the other CPUs again. You can get the most recent BIOS for that board here: ECS Downloads. Scroll down to the Socket 462 section and click on the link for your K7S5A board revision number.
