Question about CPU heat...

As soon as I power my system on and enter the BIOS... the CPU temperature reads 150+ degrees F.

Doesn't this sound a bit high? The system usually reboots itself in the middle of usage after a few hours... :-( I'm thinking its heat but I don't know if 150 is too high or not.

My friends boots up at like 100 degrees and he has no probs with it.

P.S. MY CPU fan speed is 4400+ RPMs... i think thats fine... but the fan itself is kinda loud. sounds like its broken.

But my main question is, is 150 too high for just booting??? if so, what should i do?

It's Athlon XP 2000+ with heatsink and fan attached.

Could that possibly be the problem when its at 150 the SECOND I turn it on? I would think when you first hit the power it would be low temp. then get higher and higher after long use.

What do you think... new HS and Fan?
