Quick question for you all,

When looking for a good cooler, how many degrees should I be expecting for a high quality HSF to take off of my CPU temperature?? For instance...if I was switching from a stock s939 cooler to say, a Zalman7000, how many (Celcius) degrees should I hope to take off by making that switch. Anyone know??

Also, which of these do you all consider to be the "best" for a s939 overclock:

-Zalman 7000
-Thermalright X90 (120 is too big for the mobo I'm lookin to get)
-Thermaltake Silentboost K8
-Any others??

Thanks!

id try arctic cooling freezer64. only 25 bucks dont hear it and the thermal resistance is only 0.2°C/W. this is pretty much unmatched performace/price i believe. oh thermalrock silentrock is very very good too but like 35 bucks. i believe both to be smarter choices than thermalright which may keep the cpu like 2° cooler while being significantly louder and costing around twice as much with a fan. the freezer 64 is listed to cool everything up to a64 5000+ / fx-59 and 21dba.
im not saying it cools better than the xp 90 or 120 but its quieter and way cheaper and cools enough.

oh forgot it also blows the air straight up so if you dont use a psu that has a fan blowing down this should result in a more desirable over-all air flow in your case.
my 2 (euro) cents.

Never heard of Thermalrock before...do you happen to work for them, or just like the name??

Can you give me a link to somewhere that sells the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64?? It's not on newegg.

TT Venus 12, good value and moves A LOT of air. At 3000rpm the noise is minimal and the air flow is still great. Only $30 on newegg.

ummm....how can you say that an XP-90 is loud?
or soft for that matter?
Since it doesn't come with a fan it can be either or.

haha i dont work for anyone. im in college. if i were to work for a company id definitely not use my free time to talk about its products. its just a very nice cooler the silent rock. you can check out the freezer64 which i happen to like even more for the 10 bucks cheaper, the huge area of heat something (im not even gonna try to spell that word) at www.arctic-cooling.com. i do not work for them either. and yes i do like the name thermalrock. i however think their new case lines are very ugly both of em. i dont know where to buy the freezer over there tho. im european.

it just tends to be louder as other heatsinks when using the same fan. its hard to explain maybe too much air turbulence or something like that. they didnt optimize for noise i think but rather just best possible (air) cooling. also if you install a slower spinning fan the bit of extra cooling you gain will be gone. then you prolly get the same cooling same noise for more cash and i like less cash. well at least for cpu coolers. id rather spend it on the video card cpu hard drive a few blank dvds or beer.

my buddy had this problem when switching to an xp 90. if your motherboard is compatible to the xp120 you can have better cooling even with alil lower rpm on the huge fan but thats just too much money for air cooling in my book. and its heavy and you dont know if you can use it on the next mb youll buy. its still a very nice heatsink as the 90 is too.
