So the wires for the fan come wrapped around the heatsink. Should I unwrap them before using this beast? Right now they appear to be held to the heatsink with black clips on each side. I wasn't sure if they are supposed to stay wrapped up like this, or if they need to be unwrapped? I also noticed that quite a bit of force was required to close the lever to lock the cpu in place, is this normal with the socket 775?

Yes, unwrap them. And yes, a lot of force is required to get them into the motherboard. Good luck. ;)

You only need to unwrap them if the fan header doesn't reach the motherboard, but they don't need to stay wrapped if you don't want. It does take a decent amount of force to get them to lock as well, so no worries there.
