Ok, I was driving home the other night and something struck me....I've never seen a cop car with fog lamps.

Now i'm sure I'm not alone in that more than once I've had a car behind me that I wasn't sure if it was a cop or not. Might this be a way to rule out at least some cars? If no cop car comes equipped with fogs then if the car behind you has fogs, viola....

Anyone got any input on this?

If it will keep you from driving like an asshole, then I'm not going to tell you, and I hope no one else will either.

Actually, I think perhaps if you the police in your area have any SUV vehicles, usually used by the supervisors, or the State Police, they MIGHT have fog lamps.

Hahaha, keep ME from driving like an asshole....yeah, if you knew the cops out here you wouldnt even say that.
The lovely cops right down the street (they literally only have jurisdiction over about a mile of this particular stretch of road) found a loophole in the "no incentives for speeding tickets" rule. So what did you do first? dropped the speed 10 m/hr and park their lazy asses up and down the street. I don't speed personally, and I've never had a single accident nor ticket. But I've known people who have been stopped for only a couple miles over the limit (and by a couple I mean 2, not 6).

Seriously take a step back and dont be a tard. I'm just asking. If nothing else its nice not to constantly be checking your mirrors to see if the dolt on your bumper is a cop trying to goad you into speeding (I HATE that!) or just some idiot who can't drive.

I didn't specifically mean YOU. Perhaps I should have said "youse guys". In any case, I did offer a (helpful) insight on the police and their SUV's. But I have never seen a regular Crown Vic type cruiser with fog lamps.

Ah ok, yeah trust me I hate retarded drivers just as much as the next guy (and if you DONT hate retarded drivers....your the retarded driver most likely) but I also hate donut munching cops with nothing better to do than park in one freaking spot for 5 hours. Not like St. Louis has a car theft problem, we really need you to focus your fat @ss on sitting there sucking down oxygen....bottom feeding b@stards....

Hehehe....that said to all the HARD working cops :) good job.

I dunno....

I have always been under the impression that fog lamps were illegal.

It is one of those un-inforced laws.

Or so I have been lead to believe. YMMV.

Because most people have no f'n clue how to adjust them correctly.

Therefore, they end up doing more harm than good.

Like I said, this is what I was lead to believe.

It is kind of like radar detectors & police band scanners. They are legal to own. Just not legal to use.

A LOT of the sh|tbags driving around with poorly aimed fog lamps are the asshole who bought them at Wal-Mart or (insert something here)-Mart, and screwed them into their plastic bumpers on their duct taped vehicles.

I just recognize cop cars by their headlight pattern. If you see the *very* distinctive pattern of a crown vic, you had better behave.

Word. You get to the point where you can spot them a mile off, from the front or back. It's very, VERY useful.

The Police around here drive so many different vehicles its hard to recognize all of them. Most are CrownVics, bu there are also Impalas, Expeditions, Tahoes and I think there are still a handful of the older Caprice Classic around here.

Well fog lamps are well, duh, to be used for fog situations so therefore you should not be driving with them on all of the time.

Now, a lot of cars can come with driving lamps which may look like fog lamps however they are totally different.

Police band scanners are legal to use as well. Text

And (when all else fails) cops can be recognized by their very distinctive driving style. No one else drives like a cop. They speed at will with rapid acceleration and without fear or hesitation. They tailgate aggressively, not because they're in a hurry, but to intimidate. Or they might drive slower than the speed limit blocking a long line of cars.
It's difficult to describe, but NO ONE drives like a cop. The sheep drive like sheep. The aggressive drive like they're going somewhere in a hurry. Cops drive like a tiger on the prowl. They are highly trained drivers in extremely well-maintained high performance cars (a non-cop Crown Vic sits about 1" higher than a cop Crown Vic and has a lot of body roll that the cop Crown Vic doesn't). All I can say is that It shows.
