I would like to put each device on it's own channel (hd, cd-rom, cdrw) but with the 8kha+ I only have two ide ports on the mobo. I will probably go ahead and hook the hd to master on primary ide and the cdrom slave on same one. Then put the cdrw as master on secondary.
However if I wanted all three to be on independant channels would I need to buy a controller card?
Something like the Promise ULTRA100TX2?
If I leave the cdrom and hd on same channel, would it slow things down when installing programs for cdrom to the hd?
Just looking for ideas.
