Question about Configuring DF

Insidious

Diamond Member
I want the DF client to run at startup. (WindowsXP)

Is there any (dis)advantage to configuring DF as a service as opposed to just putting a shortcut to foldit.bat in the startup directory?

I realize there isn't really that much goin on in the window that does show when I use foldit.bat to run the client, but it is fun to be able to show it to peeps when they are curious about this work.

TIA 🙂

I've found that the client works very well when installed as a sevice in Windows XP. You won't have that window to look at anymore but it just gets in the way most of the time anyway.

Thx Baldy!

I've been running it as a service all morning now and I agree, it is seamless here also.

Actually, on one of the comps. I've been running DF as a service and UD (no GUI) at the same time (other machine is strictly DF for right now).

Resources seem to stay around 60% UD and 40% DF. It's nice to see these two can play together.
