If you were going to use the more expensive cables, it's because they are made to handle the higher bandwidth of the video info. This goes to say that you shouldn't use audio RCA cables for a video cable.

Get the component video cables, aparently there is a huge difference in color quality, assuming you have a nice TV and DVD player. :)

well i just bought a 32" WEGA from HOT DEALS forum, and i have an APEX. are you sure that there is a noticeable difference in higher quality cables? and i thought ALL RCA cables can carry either audio or video.

also, i heard some people say that different length video and audio RCA cables will cause A/V to go out of sync. any truth to this?

Haha, no. Electrical signals travel somewhere between 65-80% of the speed of light (depending on the reactive components of the specific cable). No possible way different length audio and video cables could cause a loss of synchronization. Quality cables can make a pretty big difference, especially in terms of shielding. Try to keep your cables as short as possible that will still get the job done.

They don't have to be expensive, unfortunately there's a lot of snake oil being peddled in the cable industry. That's not to say there aren't varying grades of cables, but most of the well-constructed ones cost far more than than they are worth. If you can solder, there's nothing to stop you from picking up some RG-59 and RCA plugs for a good video cable, and some siamesed RCA cable for the audio channels.

Let me know if you need some help.

No I definatley would say go component, you dropped the cash for a wega, its worth it! Your monitor doesnt hook up with just a rca cable for signal data does it ;)?

It appears there may be some confusion about the type of interconnection, perhaps just my own :Q

I mentioned RCA in my previous reply, but it occured to me you are referring to S-video. Nonetheless, the same logic applies. The only problem is that making S-video cables is not for the faint of heart. KidViciou$, you have a private message.
