Ok, after trying to decide between the Dell i8200 and the Compaq, it looks like the Compaq is probably going to end up winning. Here's my question though -- Compaq's page says nothing about battery life. What's the average battery life on the Compaq? Second, if I were to buy a 2nd battery, would I have to remove the CD/DVD drive in order to have 2 batteries in at once?

Thanks.

i have a compaq 2805 (p4 1.4 mobile), 512 megs of ram, and the 14.1 xga display. i easily get 3 hours out of the battery. now if you order the computer direct from compaq, which you should - then specify the larger battery as the one you want, 66whr.
i'm pretty sure i have the smaller one, since i bought mine from best buy.

also crucial is selling 256meg dimms for this laptop for $64 shipped (you have to use their little coupon on their website), which is cheaper than compaq sells it for.

Thanks for the reply, and thanks for the info on the crucial. To do the crucial deal, do I need to actually select Compaq Presario 2800T memory from that memory selector, or do I just need to do the PC2100 SODimm by searching for standard memory type? And is the deal your referring to the $40 off? One last thing... do you happen to know if it's possible to have two batteries AND the dvd drive in the system all at the same time?
