Question about color contact lenses

Are you supposed to see clearly like you would through regular non-colored contact lenses or are you supposed to see the darkness that the lens provides? I can see clear through it but around my eyes I can swear to god I can see the darkness of the lenses.

You should see clearly unless the color band slips over your pupil.

If it slips over my pupils is the contacts too small?

No, not necessarily. Contacts free-float, to a certain extent. Also, if the contact moves around when you blink you could see through the color.

It looks really weird. The time I tried on the colored contact I didn't see like how I'm seeing now. I actually see on the outer edges something. It's really weird.
