How long do most lenders like Sallie Mae usually start charging interest on your loans? Immediately after or is there a certain time period?

How can I find what the rates are currently at?

do you mean "when do they start charging interest?" that depends on if your loan is subsidized or unsubsidized.

I think they start applying interest as soon as you purchase a used mattress.

Depends on the loan. Some are 0% until 6-months after graduation. Just depends...call, ask, google.
